My ARRL Bio:

I joined the ARRL, the national association for Amateur Radio, as its Chief Operating Officer and Publisher of QST and QEX in February 2005. I retired from the ARRL in March 2016.
I hold an Amateur Extra Class License and an FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License (GROL). I am a lifelong Amateur Radio operator who was first licensed in 1962 as KN1ZCK.
I am currently an ARRL Official Emergency Station (OES), an ARRL Volunteer Examiner and an ARRL Life Member. I was formerly an Emergency Coordinator (EC) for the ARRL in South Central Connecticut.
My principal Amateur Radio focus has been on emergency and public service communications and I hold emergency communications certifications from the ARRL and from FEMA. More info on my Amateur Radio Organizations and Operating Awards.
Before joining the ARRL, I spent my entire career in the cable television and broadcast industries. Prior to the ARRL, I was the Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Connecticut Public Broadcasting, Inc. in Hartford, Connecticut. Before holding that position, I was a Director of Public Affairs for SBC (now AT&T) Corporation’s cable television service.
I have been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Hartford and other local colleges where I have taught courses in communications and electronics.
I am a lifelong Connecticut resident. I live in Cheshire CT where I am have been an elected official and continue to be active in local government.
I hold an A.A.S. from the University of Hartford, and a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Connecticut.
